Pulpit Supply & Pastoral Care – 8/17/25 Update
August 17 - September 28
The following was read in church on Sunday, August 17, 2025:
I am coming to you this morning on behalf of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, of which Amy Hurst serves as the chair. She asked if I would give a brief update regarding Pastor Mimi’s medical leave and all that is happening surrounding that.
So let’s just jump right in with three separate announcements:
First: Karen Grube will continue as pulpit supply for the rest of August. She was not originally available for such an extended amount of time, but it seems that God has a message to deliver through Karen that is going to take 5 weeks instead of the originally-planned 2 weeks. Karen – thank you for your willingness to serve alongside the people of Mechanicsburg.
Second: For the month of September, Rev. Roger Grace will be returning to fill the pulpit. Roger is a retired United Methodist pastor who was with us during the month of June and has graciously offered to come back after some traveling, spending some time with his brand new grandbaby, and some pulpit supply at some other churches.
Third: During Pastor Mimi’s medical leave, the District has arranged for all of our pastoral care to be handled by Pastor Abby Adams of St. Paris United Methodist Church. The church office has Pastor Abby’s contact information, and it will also be printed in next week’s bulletin. So if you or a loved one would like a pastor to visit, call, or even just text, either at home or in the hospital, or if there is a need for a wedding or a funeral, she will make herself available.
During this time, continue to lift Pastor Mimi and Paul up in prayer. Healing is ongoing, but the timeline is still developing day-to-day. They have asked to please not drop by the house so they can keep that a germ-free zone as much as possible, but I’m sure a card or text of encouragement would go a long way to helping the healing process.
If you have any questions about the announcements today, please stop me or Amy Hurst after church, or send a text throughout the week.
Thank you.
